“I usually dread salons, but my experience at The Beauty Project has me thinking that there has always existed a better way, and this is it. I appreciated the small "touches"; a preference checklist at the beginning of the appointment, a menu of drink options, the extra time put into ensuring I was comfortable throughout. I did not give Jillian much direction in terms of how I wanted my haircut (only that I wanted several inches off), and after looking through some photographs we agreed upon a style and she managed to cut it perfectly. I came to Jillian in a fragile state from a hair emergency, and she took her time to help me feel safe and heard in her chair. I appreciated how she took into consideration my hair's health and its natural curly texture when shaping the haircut. She even walked me through a styling tutorial at the end of our appointment so I could style it on my own. When it came to choosing a color, she had great advice as to which shade would be the most fitting for my skin tone and natural hair color.
She went above & beyond expectations, and I was feeling amazing by the time I left the salon. Jillian also did a great job of explaining each step of the process, so I felt informed and at ease the whole appointment. Overall, I felt relaxed, considered, and well-supported.

Throughout the entire process, her communication was clear, professional, and reassuring. She checked in frequently to make sure I was happy with the direction we were going and was open to feedback. And she did *not* try to sell me any products which I usually feel obligated to buy. I walked away loving the result (whereas sometimes I go home and ugly cry and cut my hair again myself). “First time coming to this salon and I was blown away! Bear is so knowledgeable and talented! They were very attentive to understanding what I wanted with their questions and answering my concerns with expertise and understanding. I learned in this hair experience that I have curly/wavy hair and had no idea. Quite literally an identity crisis right then and there with what was already an identity change for me with this new hair. They were so patient with me and sat with me in the awe of my realization of new hair. It was so special and amazing. She explained maintenance routines, recommended products that actually work (clean products & shared genuine knowledge), and made sure I understood how to recreate the look at home. She explained how we would shape my curls over time (through upcoming appointments) and worked with me from the start.
